DrillAnDrive Inc was contacted by Jesse Yoakum Well Drilling.

The problem:

Jesse Yoakum Well Drilling needed to case a water well in the Kansas City river basin for a tree nursery and new technology was required. The drilling formation in the river basin consisted of sands and pebbles—otherwise known as an alluvial formation. Mr. Yoakum had tried various tools and systems to drill cost-effective water wells in this area; all attempts proved to be inefficient and/or ineffective.

The Solution:

DrillAnDrive Inc. suggested the use of a DND MD 6-10 Casing Installation Tool to drill the required water well. The DND MD 6-10 Casing Installation Tool works unlike any other hydraulic or air power tool, simply because it gets its power by locking the drill stem to the tool itself. Efficient and versatile the tool was delivered to the site in the back of 3/4 ton pick-up and was installed on Jesse Yoakum’s Well Drillings rig, T-690- W Richdrill, in a matter of minutes. No rig modification was required for the install. The tool was setup to have the drill bit at the bottom of the casing shoe and then the tool was activated (this locked the tool into this position in relation to casing). Yoakum then proceed to drill the well. Drilling and casing the well occurred simultaneously.

The Result:

Jesse Yoakum was drilling in half the time it would normally take to set a conventional mud system; in addition no extra water was required at the site for the Casing Installation Tool, thereby eliminating the need for hauling water to the site. The 110 foot well was completed in three hours versus the six-plus hours it could have taken using a conventional mud system. Once drilling commenced, the results of the drilling were known instantly— the tool allowed for immediate well assessment. Moreover, the tool also eliminated the need for clean up and contamination of the aquifer.
